Human Existence

Human existence is in doubt

in a world filled with drought

of emotions that are beyond account

In this land with no hope left

a vicinity pitch black I doubt,

will ever the seeds of hope sprout?

Gazes of suspicion are paramount

and all around, in this creation 

of prejudice and judgement

In this scenario, a sense of detachment 

engulfed my mind 

and smog of pain encircled my heart

But the fighter in me pushed me hard

to move forward

and make an effort to alter

the predicament.

Meet the Author:

Dr. G. Sailaja, Lecturer in English at Government Polytechnic, Ananthapuramu, has 10+ years of teaching experience. A gold medalist and university topper, she holds a Ph.D. from JNTU Ananthapuramu. She has published 11 research articles, presented 13 papers, and her poetry appears in multiple anthologies. Her book releases in July 2024.
