Roots that Wander

Updated: Mar 23

Beneath the soil, so dark and deep,

Where quiet dreams are softly spun,

The roots that wander never sleep,

They stretch their fingers, one by one.

They seek no praise, they make no sound,

Yet far they go beyond their sight,

Through secret paths of earthen ground,

They move with strength; they move with light.

Each twist and turn, a lesson learned,

Each stone, a test they push beyond,

With patient grace, their wisdom earned,

They weave unseen a silent bond.

And though the eye may miss their climb,

And none may cheer their quiet way,

Their reaching shapes the tallest pine,

And feeds its leaves with hope each day.

So too we grow, in depths unknown,

In silent hours, we find our grace,

Our roots expand from seeds once sown,

And lift us to a higher place.

Author's Note:

A poem about a tree whose roots keep expanding underground, symbolizing personal growth, unseen but powerful. Here, the tree symbolizes a human being who is ever-changing and ever-evolving.

He expands his knowledge and wisdom quietly, without drawing attention from anyone. He endures hardships and passes countless tests to expand himself—his vision and understanding— so that he can achieve a greater good. He is patient and calm; his only desire is to reach his goal.

He keeps working in silence, without anyone noticing his thoughts (symbolizing self-discipline, good habits, and wisdom). This quiet perseverance gives him hope that one day he will achieve something great.

And one day, he does. He expands, evolves, and becomes the person he once dreamed of. This poem reflects every person who strives for true success, working silently despite feeling tired and sad numerous times. Yet, he keeps evolving, keeps expanding—sending his roots beyond the horizon of hard work, discipline, and knowledge—so that one day he can stand tall.
