Embers of us

I watch the sky in painted light,
The sun departs, a soft goodnight
A heavy sigh escapes my chest,
As dusk invites the day to rest
The heavens glow in gold and red,
A quiet tale left unsaid
A story fading into night
In amber gold and crimson light.
With every breath, the sky turns dim,
Its shadows stir a storm within.
A silent war, a distant ache
Of all the paths I did not take.
Tears slip down in quiet streams,
Carrying traces of lost dreams.
The weight too vast, the ache too deep,
It bends me where I stand to weep
Two souls once tied, now lost in time,
Drifting far on separate lines
Yet in their hearts, like embers bright
Their memories whisper in the night
