Moonlit Love

I have loved you in whispers, in silent refrains,
Like a prayer the wind carries but never explains.
You are the moon, distant yet near,
And I, just a seeker, lost in my sphere.
It’s been years - years of wonder and wait,
Tracing your shadow in the hands of my fate.
I have searched for you in the sky’s silver glow,
The only place where your presence still shows.
You like what I like, but not me in turn,
A candle unlit, yet I still let it burn.
Close in a list, yet distant in soul,
A name on a screen, but never quite whole.
I have parted my joys, my wishes, my deeds,
Sowed silent prayers like scattering seeds.
Every blessing I whispered, though you never knew,
Carried your name in the depths of the blue.
If this isn’t love, then tell me what is?
A heart that beats, yet barely exists?
If this isn’t love, then what could it be?
A heart that beats for what it can't see?
And if love must be something defined,
I’ll spend my life tracing the stars for a sign.
