“The Journey, Us”

We walked together, step by step, beneath the sky so wide,
But halfway through, he paused and said, "The end’s still far, I’ll wait aside."
And there he stopped, while I moved slow—
Then found myself too tired to go.
I turned around, but he was gone,
The silence deep, the road went on.
Still, hope sat heavy in my chest,
So I chose to wait, gave dreams a rest.
Days turned to weeks, the months to years,
My soul grew old with silent tears.
This body—once eager, strong and bold—
Now cracked beneath a weight untold.
And in that wait, some strangers came,
They used my heart, they cursed my name.
I gave and gave, till nothing stayed,
But bruises where soft light once played.
Tears turned oceans in my sleep,
With waves that whispered secrets deep.
They kissed my bones, washed flesh away,
Till all that’s left is dust and grey.
Yet still I wait… with hollow eyes,
For him to come beneath these skies.
Not for love, not for remorse—
Just to bury me, with gentle force.
To place a flower on this grave,
For the love he once couldn't save.
And say a prayer beneath the moon,
To honor what he left too soon.
